Since you have accepted Jesus as your Savior, He is standing ready to save
you from the "lusts" or "sinful desires" of this world.
You can now choose to be freed from anything that controls you for
destruction because of what Jesus death and resurrection did for you:
"Even so consider yourselves to be dead to sin, but alive to God in
Christ Jesus. Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body that you
should obey its lusts, and do not go on presenting the members of your body
to sin as instruments of unrighteousness; but present yourselves to God as
those alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness
to God. For sin shall not be master over you, for you are not under law, but
under grace." (Romans 6:12-14)
Sin choices make us "slaves" of Satan. If we choose obedience to
Gods way, well be "slaves" to doing the right thing. We will
be changed.
"Do you not know that when you present yourselves to someone as
slaves for obedience, you are slaves of the one whom you obey, either of sin
resulting in death, or of obedience resulting in righteousness?" (Romans
6:16)
Look at these promises:
"
If anyone loves me he will obey my teaching.
Peace I leave
with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do
not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid." (John
14:25, 27)
"If you obey my commands, you will remain in my love, just as I have
obeyed my Fathers commands and remain in His love. I have told you this
so that My joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete." (John
15:10-11)
"I have told you these things, so that in Me you may have peace. In
this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world ."
(John 16:33)
