Please remember that your heavenly Father’s love for you is so great that He was willing to risk His own Son in becoming one of us. God, the Son, became the Son of man. Jesus’ love for you is so great that He was willing to take the risk and die for you. So you were originally created by Jesus and then redeemed or ‘bought back’ by Jesus.

Have you ever purchased or made something that was extremely valuable to you and then someone else stole it from you? If you had the opportunity, would you buy it back? Very likely. Well, Satan stole God’s creation from Him through lies and distortions. But God has bought it back through the blood of Jesus Christ. That’s why He becomes very jealous if anything or anybody starts destroying you through addictions or compulsions.

The Bible says:

"…for whoever touches you touches the apple of His eye…" (Zechariah 2:8)

God’s Word tells us that there will be many things and people that will tend to draw our attention away from what is pure and right. It compares these to "wolves". When wolves catch their prey they tear and mangle them, shedding a lot of blood. Both a wolf and a lion sneak up on their prey unsuspectingly; then pounce on them suddenly.

This is exactly what happens in our lives with habits that seem innocent; but suddenly become impossible to overcome. Any person or any thing that steals your quality of life is part of Satan’s plan. He came to steal and destroy and will do it in the same way as a wolf or lion.

In the Bible people are often referred to as "sheep", a helpless, vulnerable animal that is totally dependent on the shepherd. Jesus used this word picture in John 10:7-10:

"Truly, truly, I say to you, I am the door of the sheep. All who came before Me are thieves and robbers, …if anyone enters through Me, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture. The thief comes only to steal, and kill, and destroy; I came that they might have life, and might have it abundantly."

Jesus’ love for you offers you a better way of life. Each of us has a choice; but "sin" is connected to Satan and because Satan must be destroyed God tells us:

"The person who sins will die. … " (Ezekiel 18:20)
