Since mans anger is usually aroused in defense of "self",
we can easily see how this can give Satan a foothold or a firmer grip in
your thoughts or attitude.
The Bible says:
"In your anger do not sin; do not let the sun go down while
you are still angry, and do not give the devil a foothold." (Ephesians
4:26-27)
There is no simple solution for getting rid of anger in our lives. It
becomes a habit that is usually addicting; therefore we must recognize
that we cannot change our tendency to evil all by ourselves. But since
Gods Word commands that it be put away, we know it can be put
away. The hope we have centers in the person of Jesus Christ. He
understood all about our temptations and sinful habits. He is not
ashamed to call us His brothers having lived as a human being, but also
being our God and Priest.
The Bible says:
"For this reason He had to be made like His brothers in every
way, in order that He might become a merciful and faithful high priest
in service to God, and that He might make atonement for the sins of
the people. Because He himself suffered when He was tempted, He is
able to help those who are being tempted." (Hebrews
2:17-18)
Also:
"For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize
with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every
way, just as we areyet was without sin. Let us then approach the
throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find
grace to help us in our time of need." (Hebrews
4:15-16)
We can see the "hope" we have lies in a Savior who can
understand what we're dealing with. He is ready to give us the power
to overcome the "anger and bitterness" habit through
theSpirit He's put within us. Let's click on the next link and find
out the "plan."
